The KfW Representative Office in Ankara is looking to hire a Sector Coordinator

Türkiye is one of Germany’s global development partners. KfW implements migration and refugee projects and provides promotional loans for earthquake preparedness and reconstruction on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). We are also implementing projects in the framework of FRIT (Facility for Refugees in Türkiye) on behalf of the EU. Another focus area is providing promotional loans for climate financing and environmental protection and implementing IKI-funds on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).

KfW seeks to complement its team in Ankara by hiring a Senior Sector Coordinator for Socio Economic Development

As part of the socio-economic development team under the overall leadership of the Director of KfW Office Ankara, the Senior Sector Coordinator will be responsible for the further development and implementation of KfW’s project pipeline in the field of socio-economic development, including, among others, the promotion of formal employment and decent jobs for all, support for SMEs and vocational education.

The establishment of strong and trustful working relationships with our key partners from the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Labor, Iskur as well as other development partners such as EU, ILO, DRC AFD, GIZ etc. is considered crucial for this position. Based on these relationships, the Sector Coordinator shall work closely with relevant stakeholders and colleagues in Türkiye and Germany to, among others,

• Identify and actively pursue potential socio economic development project opportunities,
• Provide project related guidance and support,
• Facilitate the development of solutions for challenges encountered in project preparation and implementation,
• Establish a regular exchange of sector and project related information with key stakeholders and attend / chair relevant meetings,
• Represent KfW at workshops, conferences and seminars,
• Prepare relevant briefings for management, reports and presentations.

Requirements and skills are, inter alia,

• Graduate Degree/MBA in economics, management or other relevant subjects,
• Approx. 10 years of working experience in development financing or in the management of internationally financed development programmes, the public finance sector, the banking sector or similar activities,
• Experience in developing new project ideas and creating new opportunities,
• Proven experience in providing guidance to and dealing with senior levels of the Government of Türkiye as well as management level of other institutions,
• Proven experience with regulations and procedures of relevant parts and levels of the Government of Türkiye,
• Strong analytical skills and ability to express those easily in writing,
• Fluency in English (spoken & written) is a must
• Turkish native speaker.
